Newborn photography sessions held outdoors in San Diego County.
Outdoor newborn photography sessions are so much fun. Not only is it an opportunity to step outside of the studio, but also to take advantage of our gorgeous San Diego scenery. Every session is so unique and different, depending on the time of year, flowers and plants that are in bloom, time of day, etc. I absolutely love photographing newborn babies outdoors and I can’t wait to chat with you about setting up an outdoor newborn photography session for your little one!
So where do these outdoor newborn sessions take place?
Well, pretty much anywhere! Keep in mind that I don’t need that much space. Newborns and the props that I use for them don’t require that much space. Usually I keep my eyes open for a bush or little patch of flowers or greenery. By looking at these images, you would never guess that most of these were taken in a small little area in between walkways and even in a parking lot! Yep! Some of my most favorite shots are taken in those well maintained landscaping anywhere in town!
Is it too hot or cold for baby to be outside?
Nope! I come prepared with tons of blankets, wraps, knit outfits and bonnets to keep baby at just the perfect temperature all year round. I like to scope out the outdoor location ahead of time so get familiar with the colors and textures available to us for that particular time of year and plan accordingly. I also have a large UV blocking umbrella that I use throughout the session to keep baby shaded and comfortable.
What time of day is best for an outdoor newborn photography session in San Diego?
Well anytime of day works as I use my UV shielding large umbrella to cover baby during the session, keeping that harsh sunlight at bay and allowing for a nice, shaded, photo-friendly environment. However, if parents wish to take part in the session, I usually recommend shooting towards the end of the day, so that we can get those magical family photos at sunset. Outdoor newborn session last approximately two hours.
