Nothing matters more than your baby’s comfort and wellbeing. After nearly twenty years specializing in newborn photography, I have developed a gentle, baby-led approach that allows every session to unfold naturally. Some babies sleep peacefully throughout their session, while others need extra cuddles, feeding breaks, or time in their parents’ arms. Every baby is different, and every session is unique. I never force a baby into a pose that isn’t appropriate for their comfort or developmental stage. Many of the more advanced newborn poses you may see online are created as composite images, allowing babies to remain safely supported while multiple photographs are blended together during editing. Your baby’s safety will always be my highest priority.

When Should You Book Your Newborn Session?

I recommend reserving your newborn photography session during your second trimester whenever possible. Instead of scheduling a firm session date before your baby arrives, I reserve your due date. Once your little one is born, we’ll choose the ideal appointment based on your delivery and recovery. Many newborn sessions are photographed within the first five to fourteen days after birth, but beautiful portraits can absolutely be created beyond that window. If your baby has already arrived, I encourage you to reach out. It’s never too late! Even if your little one is a few weeks old, we will still set up all of those same setups and focus on those more ‘awake’ poses, which are equally as beautiful as you get to see the adorable personality of your newborn shine through their perfect eye contact with the camera!

That is completely normal. My sessions are baby-led, and beautiful portraits can be created whether your baby is asleep or awake.

Yes. Everything needed for your newborn session is included.

How long does a newborn session last?

Most sessions last between two and three hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and cuddling. Immediately after our newborn session while you are still in the studio, we will sit down together to review the images we just captured and you’ll get to select your favorite images to include in your package to keep forever!
