El Cajon Newborn Photographer
If you’re looking for an El Cajon newborn photographer, I would love to help you capture those incredible first days with your new baby. I’ve specialized in newborn photography for nearly 20 years and have had the privilege of photographing hundreds of babies and growing families throughout San Diego County. My newborn sessions are relaxed, baby-led, and always centered around your little one’s comfort and safety while creating timeless portraits your family will treasure for years to come.
Newborn Photography for Families in El Cajon
Welcoming a new baby is one of those moments that changes everything. The tiny fingers, sleepy expressions, little stretches, and the way your baby fits perfectly in your arms won’t stay this way for long.
My newborn photography sessions are designed to preserve all of those little details while giving you a relaxed experience during those busy first weeks of parenthood. I’ll take care of the posing, styling, wraps, props, and details so you can simply settle in and enjoy watching your baby’s first professional portrait session unfold.
My studio is fully equipped for newborn photography, with everything we need to create a beautiful and varied gallery without requiring you to bring a car full of baby items along with you.

Nearly 20 Years of Newborn Photography Experience
Newborn photography is very different from almost every other type of photography. It requires patience, experience, and an understanding of how to safely handle and pose brand-new babies.
After nearly two decades of photographing newborns, I have worked with hundreds of babies—each with their own personality, preferences, and ideas about how their session should go!
I never expect a newborn to perform for the camera or follow a strict schedule. We follow your baby’s cues throughout the session and allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and cuddles whenever they are needed.

When Should I Book My Newborn Photography Session?
The best time to reserve your newborn session is before your baby arrives, ideally during your second or third trimester.
Since babies rarely arrive exactly on their due dates, I use your expected due date to reserve space on my calendar rather than scheduling your actual newborn session date in advance. Once your baby is born, we’ll choose the session date based on their arrival.
Already had your baby and haven’t booked newborn photos? Please don’t assume it’s too late! Contact me as soon as possible. If I have availability, I am always happy to photograph older newborns too.

When Is the Best Time to Photograph a Newborn?
Newborn sessions are generally photographed during the first few weeks after birth, when babies are still especially sleepy, curly, and comfortable settling into those sweet newborn poses.
That doesn’t mean there is a magical cutoff date when your baby suddenly becomes “too old” for newborn photographs. Every baby is different, and beautiful newborn portraits can still be created outside that traditional early window.
If your baby has already arrived, reach out and let me know their birth date. I can help you determine the best timing for your session based on your baby’s age and my current availability.

Newborn Photography Safety Comes First
Your baby’s safety is always more important than getting a particular photograph. Throughout your session, I pay close attention to your baby’s comfort, positioning, temperature, breathing, and cues. I will never force a baby into a pose simply because it was part of the original plan for the session. My years of experience working specifically with newborns have taught me when to continue with a pose, when to make an adjustment, and when it’s time to move on entirely. Parents should be able to relax knowing that their newborn is being handled with patience, care, and experience.

Parents and Siblings Are Part of the Story
Your newborn session isn’t only about photographs of your baby.
I encourage parents to step in front of the camera too. I know that being photographed shortly after having a baby may not feel like your highest priority, but these first family portraits often become some of the most meaningful photographs from the entire session.
Older brothers and sisters can be included as well. We’ll create sibling portraits when possible, along with photographs of your family together and those beautiful little connections between you and your newest family member.
Your baby will someday love seeing not only what they looked like when they were tiny, but also how completely loved they were from the very beginning.

What Should We Wear for Newborn Photos?
For parent and family portraits, I generally recommend keeping clothing simple and timeless. Soft, neutral colors photograph beautifully and help keep the attention on your baby and the connection between your family members.
You don’t need everyone dressed in identical colors. Coordinating tones and keeping patterns and logos to a minimum usually creates a much more natural, polished look.
If you’re unsure what to wear, I’m happy to help you plan your wardrobe before your session.

What Is Included in Your Newborn Session?
I provide the wraps, blankets, headbands, bonnets, outfits, props, and other newborn photography items we’ll use during your baby’s session. We’ll discuss your preferences ahead of time so I can prepare colors and setups that fit the style you love. Your session can include a combination of beautifully styled newborn portraits, simple images that keep all of the attention on your baby, tiny detail photographs, parent portraits, sibling photographs, and family images. The goal isn’t simply to give you a collection of cute newborn photographs. I want your final gallery to tell the story of what your family looked and felt like when your newest little person arrived.

From El Cajon to Santee Newborn Photography Studio
I photograph families from throughout San Diego County, including El Cajon and the surrounding East County communities. My baby photography studio is located in Santee, right next to El Cajon! Many parents choose a studio newborn session because everything is ready and waiting when they arrive. You don’t need to worry about cleaning your home, finding the right light, buying newborn props, or preparing different setups. You simply bring your baby and the things your family will personally need during the session, and I’ll take care of the photography.

Maternity & Newborn Photography
If you’re still expecting, this is also the perfect time to think about maternity photographs.
Maternity photography captures the anticipation before your baby arrives, while newborn photography preserves those first incredible days afterward. Together, the two sessions tell the beginning of your baby’s story.
I offer maternity photography throughout San Diego County and can help with location selection, wardrobe, posing, and planning. Maternity sessions are typically photographed around 34–36 weeks of pregnancy, so I recommend reaching out early if you would like to reserve both maternity and newborn photography.
