After nearly twenty years specializing in newborn photography, I’ve developed a calm and patient approach that allows every session to unfold naturally. Your baby determines the pace of our time together, and we always allow plenty of time for feeding, comforting, and cuddling throughout your session. Every newborn is wonderfully unique, which means every session is unique as well. Some babies love to sleep deeply throughout their entire session. Others prefer extra snuggles and feeding breaks. Both are absolutely perfect. My sessions are never rushed because beautiful newborn portraits should never come at the expense of your baby’s comfort.
Many of the more intricate poses you may see online are actually composite images that are safely created through careful editing techniques while your baby remains fully supported throughout the process. Your baby’s wellbeing will always come first.
The Best Time to Book Your Carlsbad Newborn Photographer
The ideal time to reserve your newborn session is during your second trimester. Once you’re officially on my calendar, I reserve your due date rather than scheduling a specific appointment immediately. After your baby arrives, we’ll finalize your session date during the ideal newborn photography window—typically between five and fourteen days after birth. If your little one decides to arrive earlier or later than expected, don’t worry. Your session date will always be adjusted accordingly. Even if you’ve already welcomed your baby into the world, it may not be too late to create beautiful newborn portraits. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

How long does a newborn session last?
Most sessions last between two and three hours to allow plenty of time for feeding, comforting, and posing your baby safely. Immediately following our newborn session and while you’re still in the studio, we will sit down together and review the images we have just captured and you’ll be able to pick out your favorite images to add to your all-inclusive newborn photography package.
