Santee Newborn Photographer
Luxury Newborn Photography for Growing Families in Santee
Welcome, Santee families! My name is Sophie, and I love photographing newborns! Having photographed hundreds of San Diego’s newest tiny humans for almost two decades, I am proud to own and operate Santee’s one and only exclusive newborn photography studio in town! Welcoming a new baby into your family is one of life’s most unforgettable moments. Those tiny fingers, sleepy smiles, and delicate little details change so quickly during the first weeks of life, making professional newborn photography one of the best investments you’ll ever make. As not only a Santee photographer, but a mom of two daughters myself, I know how precious these moments are and how quickly this stage comes and goes. Before you know it, your tiny 7lb baby will be graduating high school, and you’ll find yourself going through these delicate images, reflecting back to this stage of their new lives, remembering all of those first moments.
If you’re searching for a Santee newborn photographer, you’re likely looking for someone you can trust with your precious baby while creating timeless artwork your family will treasure forever.
For nearly two decades, I have been creating beautiful newborn portraits for families throughout San Diego County, (including many who travel from as far as Arizona) for a relaxed, luxury newborn photography experience. Every session is carefully planned around your baby’s comfort and safety, allowing parents to simply relax while every precious detail is beautifully documented.

Why Families Choose Sophie Crew Photography as their Santee Newborn Photographer
I am so lucky and honored to be able to live in the same awesome community where I work! Santee has been my home for over twenty-five years and I have raised two kiddos in our amazing community. I am not only a Santee resident myself, but a Santee small business owner, happily and proudly offering Santee’s one and only dedicated newborn and baby photography studio in town!
Choosing a newborn photographer isn’t just about beautiful pictures. It’s about trusting someone with your brand-new baby during one of the most emotional and exciting seasons of your life. Families from Santee choose Sophie Crew Photography because they want more than trendy photos—they want an experienced professional who understands newborn behavior, safe posing techniques, soothing methods, and how to create heirloom portraits that will still look beautiful decades from now. With nearly twenty years of experience photographing newborns, I have been described as a newborn photographer that has developed a calm, patient approach, allowing each session to unfold naturally. Babies are never rushed, and every pose is guided by your baby’s comfort and individual needs. The result is a gallery filled with authentic moments and timeless portraits your family will treasure for generations.

A Convenient Photography Studio for Santee Families
Many of my clients are Santee residents themselves, wanting a luxury newborn photography experience without the stress of having to travel far. My studio is conveniently located within easy driving distance from within Santee and surrounding cities, making it simple for new parents to arrive, settle in, and enjoy a peaceful session while everything is prepared for them. Instead of worrying about bringing props, wraps, blankets, or accessories, you’ll find everything ready and waiting for your baby’s arrival. My studio is located right in the middle of Santee, just blocks away from our local main shopping centers. Don’t worry, there are a few Starbucks and other amazing local coffee shops just minutes a way for that pick me up coffee on the way to the studio. Also, I offer coffee, beverages and snacks in the studio as well!
The studio itself is located in a calm and relaxing location, with not too much foot traffic that can sometimes be overwhelming. In fact, I always joke with my clients that we have the ‘cutest’ section of our shopping center – my business neighbors service doggies to my right, kitties to my left, and then there’s my studio with the cutest little babies!
When heading to the studio, you don’t need to worry about planning any setups or bringing anything along. I have it all covered!
The studio includes:
- Luxury wraps and knit outfits
- Beautiful handmade bonnets
- Timeless props
- Soft neutral color palettes
- Comfortable seating for parents, including a private back room to relax and feed baby
- Climate-controlled environment designed specifically for newborn comfort
Every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to create a relaxing experience for both parents and baby.

Safe Newborn Photography Always Comes First
Your baby’s safety is always my highest priority. Always! As a Santee newborn photographer who has specialized in newborn photography for nearly twenty years, every pose is guided by safe newborn photography practices. Sessions are always baby-led, meaning your little one determines the pace of the session. Your little one will never be placed in a compromising position or in an unsafe environment.
First off, baby has a voice! If baby needs feeding, we take a snack break. If baby needs soothing, we take a soothing break. If baby simply wants extra snuggles with mom, we take a mommy snuggle break. Working around baby’s comfort is very important!
What about newborn posing? Many of the elaborate poses you may see online are actually created as composite images, meaning baby is supported at all times and multiple photographs are safely combined during editing. The ‘froggy pose’ is one of my most requested newborn poses. I love this pose so much that it is actually part of my business logo! Anyway, this is the main pose that is always executed as a composite. You can check out details of this pose in this Instagram post I made: Safe froggy pose newborn photography
Healthwise, I always ask clients to refrain from entering the studio if they are sick. I have no problem at all rescheduling our newborn photography session if my client or family member is experiencing an illness. First, we want to avoid having any yucky gems in the newborn photography studio but also, if clients are not feeling their best, it can show, and I want to make sure our session is as memorable and beautiful as possible.
Nothing is ever more important than your baby’s wellbeing.

The Best Time to Schedule Your Newborn Session
When is the best time to take newborn photos? The ideal time to photograph your newborn is during the first two weeks after birth. This is a great in-depth article written by your favorite Santee Newborn Photographer that explains newborn session timing: Best Age for Newborn Photos
During this stage babies are typically:
- Sleepier
- Naturally curled
- More comfortable in posed positions
- Easier to soothe
- Less affected by baby acne or colic
However, if your baby is already older, don’t worry! Beautiful newborn portraits can still be created beyond the traditional newborn window, and as a Santee newborn photographer, I have tons and tons of experience photographing ‘older’ newborns. Every baby is unique, and each session is customized accordingly.

What Your Santee Newborn Photographer Includes in Your Session
When you arrive, everything will be carefully set up and ready for your baby! There’s no need to pack baskets, blankets, headbands, wraps, or props – I have it all!
Your session includes:
- Color and prop preference questionnaire
- Access to the studio props, fabrics and accessories
- Professionally styled sets
- Parent portraits
- Sibling photographs
- Individual newborn portraits
- Careful artistic editing
- Fine art wall art and albums available after your session
My goal is to make the entire experience as stress-free as possible so you can simply enjoy this special season with your growing family.

Creating Artwork That Lasts a Lifetime
Digital images are wonderful, but they’re only the beginning. Many Santee families choose to preserve their baby’s portraits through handcrafted albums, custom wall art, and museum-quality prints that become treasured family heirlooms. I know how important it is to have digital images from our session to be able to share your sweet little one’s image online, but I always highly encourage my clients to print their newborn images as soon as possible. Those first few months can be super overwhelming with that newborn sleep deprivation, so I am proud to offer the option to add beautiful, one of a kind professional photo albums, prints, canvases and wood prints to your digital image package. You can check out all of my current packages here: Newborn Photography Pricing.
These aren’t photographs meant to live on a hard drive – they’re memories designed to be displayed, shared, and passed down for generations. Wondering where to print your newborn photos? Here are the professional print labs that I recommend. Nothing makes me happier than when a client sends me a text message with a photo of their family room or nursery wall featuring the art we created!

Serving Families Throughout East County
Although my Santee newborn photography studio welcomes families from across San Diego County, I especially enjoy working with clients from East County communities including:
- Santee
- Lakeside
- El Cajon
- La Mesa
- Alpine
- Spring Valley
Many parents tell me the short drive is well worth it for the relaxed experience and timeless style they’re looking for.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book my newborn session?
The best time is during your second trimester so your due date can be reserved on the calendar.
What if my baby arrives early?
That’s completely expected. Your session date will be officially set as soon as baby enters the world.
Can siblings be included?
Absolutely. Sibling and family photographs are some of the most meaningful images from your session.
Can pets be included?
Yes! I love including all family members – check out these newborns with dogs photos.
Do you provide wraps and props in the Newborn Photography Studio?
Yes. Everything is provided for you. I spend quite a bit of time the day before our session planning out and coordinating all of those colors and textures just for you.
How long does a newborn session last?
Most sessions last between two and three hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and comforting your baby. Immediately following our newborn photography session in the studio, we will hold our image reveal, where you will be able to view and select your favorite images from our session to be fully edited and added to your newborn package.
How much does a newborn photography session cost?
Great question! Investing in your newborn’s photography session is a decision you’ll never regret. Check out my newborn photography investment page!
What should parents wear?
Simple, neutral clothing photographs beautifully and keeps the focus on your connection with your new baby. Most of my newborn and family/parent poses are from the waist up to keep focus on your little one, so a neutral, solid colored shirt or dress is perfect! Here’s a great guide on what to wear for your newborn photography session!
Where is the newborn photography studio located?
My newborn photography studio is located at:
9730 Cuyamaca St Ste c, Santee, CA 92071
